A German tourist parked his car outside the blue lagoon and walked to the volcano. Instead of walking back to the car he decided to walk to Grindavik and spend the night there. Allegedly the way to Grindavik is shorter than walking all the way back to the blue lagoon. Because the vehicle carries foreign (German) tags local authorities were afraid that the person had gone missing.

A helicopter and rescue team was called to search for the man. During the search the man was fast asleep and learned about the whole incident this morning. “I would have informed the authorities if I had only known that they were looking for me.” The man told RUV, our local radio and TV station.
