Berkshire Hathaway Travel Protection recently released its annual report revealing the world’s safest countries for travel. In 2025, the top honor goes to none other than Iceland! This Nordic island nation has claimed the number one spot due to its unique features and commitment to safety.
The company determined the safest countries by analyzing its own data collected since 2016, which includes surveys of American travelers regarding their attitudes towards travel safety. They also considered factors such as the Global Peace Index, Numbeo data, and GeoSure Global scores of major cities in each country.
Iceland moved up from the ninth position in 2024, thanks to its minimal traffic and uncrowded landscapes. With just one major road, the risk of traffic accidents is significantly reduced. However, it’s essential to keep in mind that Iceland is a volcanic island, so occasional volcanic eruptions may occur. Rest assured, the locals are well-prepared and remain calm during these events.
