Gewitter sind am Dienstag (26. Februar) zwischen Vík und Höfn im Süden und zwischen Höfn und Vopnafjörður im Osten zu erwarten. Windböen von mehr als 50 m/s (180 km/h). Reisende sollten Vorkehrungen treffen und die Reise verschieben.

Starker Wind 25. Februar

Starker Wind mit Böen bis zu 35 m/s (126 km/h) zwischen Hvolsvöllur und Vík morgen Abend, ab 20.00 Uhr bis Mitternacht. Gefährliche Fahrbedingungen, insbesondere für windempfindliche Fahrzeuge.

Sehr starke und gefährliche Wellen sind heute am Strand von Reynisfjara zu erwarten. In den nächsten Tagen sollten Sie besonders vorsichtig sein, sich vom Wasser fernhalten und Kinder nicht unbeaufsichtigt lassen! Betritt nicht die Höhle!

East strong gale (Yellow condition)

25 Feb. at 21:00 – 26 Feb. at 00:59

Becoming east 18-23 m/s between Hvolsvöllur and Vík, with gusts around 35 m/s, but calmer winds elsewhere within the forecast area. Hazardous driving conditions, especially for vehicles which are susceptible to wind.

Southwest whole gale (Yellow condition)

26 Feb. at 09:00 – 18:00

An intense low is approaching Iceland and will cross the country on Tuesday night. After the low passes a southwest severe or whole gale is expected, 18-25 m/s. It is likely that a violent storm, 25-30 m/s, will be reached in some places with gust exceeding 50 m/s. This will lead to dangerous driving conditions and possibly damages to structures. There is still some uncertainty regarding how deep the low will be and the exact track will be and will warnings be updated as new information becomes available.

East fjords
